Guided ghost walk through Liverpool's Hope Street, the city's cathedrals and St James' cemetery, with an energetic guide.
Shiverpool are back with Hope Street Shivers on Thursday 22 October, starting at The Philharmonic Dining Rooms on Hope Street. It's one of the city's most well-known ghost walks, and it's got the credentials to match: it picked up 'Guided Tour of the Year' at the 2017 National Tourism Awards with VisitEngland.
The walk kicks off outside the Philharmonic, one of Liverpool's most historic alehouses, and from there it takes in both of the city's cathedrals, Rodney Street, and the story of Will McKenzie's blackened pyramid tomb. It eventually winds its way to St James' cemetery, the city's former necropolis, where nearly 58,000 souls are laid to rest. An energetic guide carries the eerie tales out onto the street as theatre, with a few chilling surprises along the way.
It's suitable for ages five and up and is wheelchair accessible, so it works as a family outing, a team-building activity, or even a romantic scare. Once the tour wraps up, there are drinks discounts available at The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, The Pen Factory and The Masonic Bar, so you can head for a pint and a chat about what you've just seen.
