An evening celebrating the creativity of QueerCore artists, with performance, presentations and conversation from the Liverpool LGBTQIA+ talent development programme.
QueerCore is taking over the Everyman Playhouse Studio on Friday 13 November, a showcase that brings together the work of early-career LGBTQIA+ artists from across the Liverpool City Region. It's the culmination of Homotopia's nine-month talent development programme, which provides tailored support to help artists grow, build connections and develop new ideas over the course of the year.
The evening draws on what the artists have been working on throughout that programme, and it's a mix of performance and presentation rather than a single show. On the bill are Harry Garner, Stephanie Trujillo, Kiya Major and No Funny Business, with No Funny Business taking a larger slot: a special 30-minute performance of Wasters.
Because it's a showcase of a development programme, the night is as much about the process as the finished pieces. The performances and presentations come from the work the artists created during their time with QueerCore, and the evening celebrates the creativity, experimentation and ideas that emerged from this year's cohort. It's a good chance to see several early-career artists in one go, each showing something they've been developing over the last nine months.
