Queer country night with line dancing, live music, a cabaret and DJs, hosted by Lori Mae and presented by the country supergroup Pink Suits.
Queer Cxntry: Burnin' Daylight takes over District on Saturday 7 November, a queer country night presented by the Margane country supergroup pink suits. It's hosted by Lori Mae, who's been dubbed the 'Queen of country', and it's billed as a safe space 'for and by the queer community'.
It's a bit of a hybrid night: line dancing, live music, a photobooth and a cabaret all in one. The Little Gay Line Dancing Club will be teaching dances from 7:15pm, so you can get your steps in before the music really takes over, and Dame James Games will be running prize draws throughout. The main stage is held by pink suits and The Northdown Rodeo, with Sue Spurs, Sugar Ray, Janet District Council, Shelly Grotto, Pretzel Cage, Lo Barnes, Em Foster and Eli, plus special cabaret guests and DJs to keep it going late.
The night is part of Homotopia, the UK's longest-running LGBTQIA+ arts and culture festival, which has spent more than twenty years since 2004 championing courageous artists across the Liverpool City Region. This edition, 'We Come Together', runs for four weeks of performance, visual art, film, music, workshops and club nights. District operates a zero-tolerance policy towards sexist, transphobic, homophobic or abusive behaviour, so it's a space where you can just be yourself.
