Plaza 80s Halloween Family Special: Ghostbusters

Plaza Community Cinema in Crosby is putting on a family special for Halloween on Saturday 31 October, and the main feature is Ghostbusters. It's a 12A, so it works as a family outing rather than a late-night horror trip. The whole thing kicks off at 6pm, which is early enough to get the kids in and out without it becoming a midnight affair.

It's not just the film, though. The night is billed as a family cinema session with a Halloween DJ, so there'll be music running alongside the screening. If you're heading down with the family, that's the bit that sets it apart from just popping into a multiplex — it's more of a proper evening out than a quick trip to the cinema. The 12A rating means it's suitable for younger ones as long as they're with an adult, so it's one of those nights that works for a few different age groups at once.

As for the film itself, Ghostbusters is a 1984 classic that still holds up, and seeing it on a big screen with a crowd is a different experience from watching it at home. The DJ adds a bit of a party feel to the whole thing, too, so it's as much about the atmosphere as it is about the movie. If you're looking for something to do on Halloween that's family-friendly and doesn't involve dressing up the house or trick-or-treating in the rain, this is a straightforward way to spend the evening.

It all goes down at Plaza Community Cinema in Crosby, Liverpool, on Saturday 31 October, starting at 6pm. The main feature is Ghostbusters (12A), with a Halloween DJ on the night.
