Daily morning prayer service at Liverpool Cathedral, with Bible readings and thanks for the day to come.
Liverpool Cathedral holds Morning Prayer on Tuesday 27 October at 08:30. It's one of two prayer services the Cathedral runs every single day, alongside an evening one, in common with Christians across the world.
The format is straightforward: giving thanks for the day to come and for the day that's passed, with readings from the Bible. If you're used to the evening side of things, you'll know that the evening service has a sung version called Evensong, which the Cathedral describes as one of its most distinctive and beautiful parts of worship, with the choir singing psalms, the ancient hymns of Israel, and songs drawn from the life of Christ, most notably his mother Mary. Morning Prayer is the quieter, spoken counterpart to that.
Both services form part of the Cathedral's regular worship, so this isn't a one-off — it's something that happens day in, day out. If you've got something on your mind, you can submit prayer requests through the Prayer for Liverpool website. The Cathedral itself is a registered charity (no 1205970).
