Self-guided audio walking tour of 15 landmarks across Liverpool City Centre, delivered by AudaTours.
Liverpudlian Icons & Airwaves is a self-guided audio walking tour of Liverpool city centre, and it kicks off from Liverpool Town Hall on High Street. It's put together by AudaTours, and the first thing to get clear is that it's not a guided group walk — you're on your own with your headphones, so you can set your own pace rather than following a crowd.
The route takes you past 15 landmarks across about 3.2 kilometres, with roughly an hour and twenty-three minutes of walking and up to 38 minutes of narration. The audio triggers automatically as you approach each stop, so you don't have to keep fumbling with your phone to find the right track. Once you've downloaded it through the AudaTours app, the tour works offline, and you get lifetime access, meaning you can walk the route again whenever you fancy.
It's aimed at solo travellers, couples, families and small groups who'd rather explore on their own schedule than stick to a set time. Along the way, the organiser says you'll uncover the scandals, rebellion and lost legends that hide behind some of the city's most recognisable sights, including St George's Hall, the Royal Court Theatre, Superlambanana and the Royal Liver Building. It's a good way to see the centre if you're more interested in the stories behind the buildings than just the architecture.
