Professional basketball fixture between Liverpool Basketball and the London Lions at the M&S Bank Arena.
Liverpool Basketball take on the London Lions at the M&S Bank Arena on Sunday 13 December. It's one of the biggest games on the home schedule for the club's first season, and for good reason: the Lions are the main feature of the day, and they're coming in from London to play right here on the waterfront.
There's a bit of a story to this one. Liverpool Basketball is the tenth franchise to join Super League Basketball, and their arrival brings top-flight men's professional basketball back to the city. The league describes Liverpool as one of Britain's most iconic sporting centres, and for a while now, a professional team like this has been missing from the waterfront. This game is part of the club's first full season, so it's one of the first times you'll get to see them play at home.
The club is owned by media executive and sports investor Jason Dolan of Kings Dock Sports Group Ltd, and he's made it clear he's thinking long-term. He's said, 'We are building for decades – not seasons', and the partnership is framed as restoring something that's been gone from the waterfront for more than a decade: a top-flight professional team playing a full season in the city.
