Listening Party & Music Quiz: Kate Bush 'Hounds Of Love' Special

Rough Trade Liverpool is hosting a Kate Bush special on Wednesday 21 October, a listening party and music quiz built around Hounds of Love. The night pairs a full playback of the album with a quiz on Bush, and with the date falling just before Halloween, the whole thing is themed around it. Fancy dress is encouraged, and there are big prizes for the winner.

Hounds of Love is the record most people know her by, and hearing it through from start to finish in a room with other fans is a different thing from putting it on at home. The album is split into two distinct halves: the first is the more pop-leaning side, with Running Up a Hill and Cloudbusting leading the way; the second, The Ninth Wave, is a continuous suite that follows a woman drifting alone at sea. The playback lets you hear that shift in one go, rather than in separate sittings.

The quiz runs alongside the music, and it's described as the ultimate Kate Bush quiz, so it'll likely reach beyond the hits and into the deeper cuts. Between the playback and the competition, the evening is as much about the community of fans as it is about the music itself.

It's a 16+ event with a capacity of 400, so it's a decent-sized room without being huge. Doors open at 6:00 PM at Rough Trade Liverpool, 54-56 Hanover Street, L1 4AF, and tickets start from £4.
