Beginner sewing workshop for children aged 7+ to learn how to use a sewing machine, with materials and snacks included.
Learn to Sew for Kids and Teens runs at 1 Aspen Grove in Toxteth on Saturday 17 October, starting at 10:00. It's a workshop for children aged seven and up, and it's built for absolute beginners who've never touched a sewing machine before. Over the course of the weeks, it covers how a machine actually works, how to thread it, and a few basic projects to get them moving. If you've got a kid who's always tinkering or wants to make their own things, this is a proper starting point.
One of the better things about the setup is that adults are welcome to stay and sew along, or you can just drop them off and head on with your morning. If you've already got your own machine and some fabric you're keen to use, you're more than welcome to bring them along too.
The person running it has more than 15 years of experience teaching arts and crafts to both children and adults, holds an enhanced DBS certificate, and has worked with children and adults with special needs. They describe their aim as fostering a creative and safe space for everyone, which is a nice bit of reassurance if you're bringing a child who might be a bit nervous about starting something new.
