Jason Byrne returns with '30 Years Byrning', a new stand-up show marking thirty years of high-energy storytelling, surreal tangents and audience interaction.
Jason Byrne is back in Liverpool on Thursday 22 October, playing the Hot Water Comedy Club at Blackstock Market on Blackstock Street. He's touring 30 Years Byrning, a new stand-up show that marks three decades on the stage. It's built around high-energy storytelling, surreal tangents and plenty of audience interaction, and it brings back the props and stunts that were such a big part of his earlier work.
Byrne has been a festival favourite for thirty years and is billed as the biggest-selling comedian at the Edinburgh Fringe. Along the way he's picked up a Perrier Newcomer Award nomination and a Perrier Award nomination. The critics have been generous, too: The Times called him the 'Outright King of Live Comedy', The Mirror described him as 'a comedy God' and The Independent named him the 'world's best stand-up'.
That live reputation has translated into a long run of television work. He's appeared on Live at the Apollo (BBC One), Comedy Annual (ITV1), Dave's One Night Stand (Dave), The Channel 4 Comedy Gala (Channel 4), John Bishop's Only Joking (Sky One) and Anonymous (RTE2). On radio he's been on Just A Minute (BBC Radio 4), And The Winner Is... (BBC Radio 2) and Father Figure (BBC2), and he hosted three series of The Jason Byrne Show on BBC Radio 2, which won the Sony Radio Gold Award for Best Comedy in 2011.
