Contemporary dance production by Rambert and Factory International inspired by Russell T Davies' series about the 1980s AIDS crisis.
It's a Sin comes to the Liverpool Empire for a short run from 5 to 10 April 2027. It's a contemporary dance production by Rambert and Factory International, and it's a reimagining of Russell T Davies' award-winning Channel 4 series about friendship, love and loss during the 1980s AIDS crisis.
The original series was set in London between 1981 and 1991, and it followed a generation of young gay men and their friends as the HIV/AIDS crisis unfolded around them β a story of joy, innocence, loss, injustice and resilience. This stage version takes that world and puts it into dance, with Davies himself serving as executive producer alongside the Pet Shop Boys and Glyn Fussell. The choreography and direction are by Rambert's Artistic Director, Benoit Swan Pouffer.
It's playing at the Liverpool Empire, a Grade II listed venue that opened in 1925 with a Neoclassical façade and the largest two-tier auditorium in the UK, seating 2,348. The show runs for about 1 hour and 50 minutes with one interval, and it's recommended for ages 15 and over.
