Live concert by singer-songwriter Ezra Furman at The Epstein Theatre on Hanover Street.
Ezra Furman plays The Epstein Theatre on Wednesday 21 October, with the show starting at 7:00 PM. It's a solo bill, so it's just Furman on the night.
Furman is a Chicago-born singer, songwriter and author whose music blends punk energy, heartfelt lyricism and genre-defying innovation. For over a decade she's built a following around fearless creativity and emotional honesty, with albums including Perpetual Motion People (2015), Transangelic Exodus (2018), Twelve Nudes (2019) and All of Us Flames (2022). That last one is a cinematic exploration of queer liberation that widens her focus to a communal scope, and her work has long woven together stories of queer discontent and unlikely, fragile intimacies, zeroing in on the light that sparks when struggling people find each other. She also recorded the soundtrack for the Netflix series Sex Education.
She's known for her dynamic live performances and for her storytelling through music, so this is a night where the songs take centre stage. The set will draw from that decade of records, and if you've followed her from the early days through to the more recent material, you'll hear how the focus has shifted from the personal to the communal.
