Unscripted spoken-word show by Danny Bowes, frontman of Thunder, built on questions from the audience, following his 2025 Maximum Chat tour.
Danny Bowes is coming to the Music Room at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Friday 9 April 2027, starting at 20:00. If you know him, it's as the frontman of Thunder and a Planet Rock radio presenter. If you don't, it's worth knowing why he's on a stage talking rather than singing.
In 2022, Bowes suffered a stroke and, shortly after, fell backwards down a flight of stairs, sustaining severe head injuries that required life-saving brain surgery. His condition was critical, but he survived and has been on a slow, determined road to recovery ever since. He's still unable to return to singing and performing with Thunder, and that's where the spoken word comes in.
He first stepped out with Maximum Chat, a show built around stories from his life before and after joining the band, with a Q&A section where the audience could ask him anything. As it went on, he found the questions more enjoyable than the stories, and Under Pressure follows that lead. It's a 100% unscripted show built entirely on questions from the room, completely unstructured and different every night. The whole thing is driven by what you ask him, so the night you get depends on who's in the room.
