Drum and bass night celebrating spooky traditions from around the world, with live DJ sets, a rap cypher and live music.
Cultureween takes over Commune on Constance Street on Saturday 31 October, a drum and bass night that does things a bit differently from your usual Halloween bash. The whole thing is built around spooky traditions from around the world, and they're asking people to bring something spooky from their own culture along with them, so it's as much about what you bring as what you'll hear.
On the music side, it's a mix of live DJ sets, a rap cypher and live music. Madelaine Jemine is on the decks, and NSSBOB is there as both DJ and producer, so the drum and bass runs through the night. BluBoy brings the rap, poetry and acting to the mix, and the cypher means the rapping happens live and in the moment rather than just a set list. It's described as half festival, half funeral, which gives you a fair idea of the mood they're going for.

The night is tied to Emmy Igo's 20s, and it runs from 18:00 until 00:30, so it's a long one that starts in the early evening and carries through to the early hours. If you're heading down, you'll find it at Commune, Constance St, Liverpool L3 8HB.
