Fundraiser night headlined by drag performer Cheryl The Queen, with live music, DJ sets and a Vivienne-themed quiz to raise money for a statue of The Vivienne.
Cheryl The Queen headlines BOXPARK Liverpool on Friday 30 October, as part of a fundraiser called Bring The Vivienne Home. It's a night of drag, live music, DJs and a quiz, all raising money for a permanent, life-size bronze statue of The Vivienne to stand at the entrance to the city's Pride Quarter, overlooking Stanley Street.
Cheryl The Queen takes the headline spot, with drag artist Debbie Darling hosting the night. Brenda LaBeau, a long-time friend of The Vivienne, also performs, alongside singer Rosa Harrison. For the music, BOXPARK resident DJ Tizzle and Regina McQueen provide the DJ sets, and quizmaster James O'Connor runs a Vivienne-themed quiz. The whole thing is run by Proudly Said, the campaign behind the statue.
The statue is the point of the night. Proudly Said is raising £120,000 for the bronze, which would stand in the Pride Quarter where The Vivienne's character first took shape. The Vivienne was the stage name of James Lee Williams, who won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019 and later appeared on Dancing on Ice. He moved to Liverpool from North Wales at 16 and became a fixture of the city's drag scene and LGBTQ+ community. He died in January 2025 after a struggle with ketamine addiction. Cheryl The Queen, who competed alongside him on that first series, described him as "Liverpool personified."
