Poet Brian Bilston brings his comedy poetry show based on his new book 'How to Lay an Egg with a Horse Inside' to The Tung Auditorium.
Brian Bilston is back on stage at The Tung Auditorium on Saturday 28 November, presented by Edge Street Live. He's touring his latest book, How to Lay an Egg with a Horse Inside, and the night is built around it: he describes the show as an evening of comedy and laughter where he walks the audience through the hows, whys and whats of reading, writing and enjoying poetry every day.
If you've come across him before, you'll know he's one of the UK's most popular poets, with more than 500,000 followers on social media and a string of sell-out shows across the country. He's published several bestselling collections, including You Took the Last Bus Home, Alexa, what is there to know about love? and Days Like These. His novel Diary of a Somebody was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, and he's also written poetry for younger readers.
This autumn's tour follows a different kind of release: in 2025 he put out Sounds Made by Humans, an album of his poetry set to music in collaboration with The Catenary Wires. So, while this show is a spoken word night, it sits alongside that more musical side of his recent work.

Doors open at 19:15 and the night runs until 23:00, so it's a proper full evening rather than a quick stop-in. If you're into poetry that doesn't take itself too seriously, this is exactly the kind of thing he does best.
