Stand-up comedian and pianist Aidan Jones blends piano and stand-up to perform Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major at Blackstock Market.
Aidan Jones brings Chopin's Nocturne to Blackstock Market on Thursday 22 October, starting at 19:00. It's a show that blends piano with stand-up comedy, and the title isn't a metaphor: he performs Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major as part of the act.
Jones is an Australian touring comedian and headliner who recently moved to London after more than a decade working as a comic. He builds the show around his background in classical piano training and his own life story. He grew up playing classical piano but failed his conservatory audition at 18; he took up stand-up after focusing on MDMA, and eventually returned to the piano during the pandemic. The two things — the classical training and the stand-up — end up sharing the same stage.
It's a show that's been around the festival circuit. It won the Pegasus Comedy Award for Show of the Year at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, as well as the Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award 2025. He's also been nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival, and the Guardian, the Advertiser, the List, ThreeWeeks and the Scotsman have all written about it. The Liverpool date is part of his touring schedule, so it's a chance to see it here rather than travelling to a festival.
