Free monthly zine club where local artist Bethan facilitates a session with paper, pens and scissors to make and share zines.
Zine Make and Share is back at Left Bank Leeds on Wednesday 4 November, from 6pm to 9pm. It's a free, open zine club that runs every first Wednesday of the month, so if you miss this one, there's another just a few weeks on. The session is facilitated by local Leeds artist Bethan, who keeps things moving and makes sure there's plenty of support on the tables.
If you've never made a zine before, that's exactly what this is for. They provide the basics — paper, pens and scissors — so you don't need to bring a thing. Each session comes with a prompt to get you started, which is handy if you're staring at a blank page, but you're just as welcome to ignore it and make whatever you like. Whether you're into collage, writing, drawing or just scribbling, it's your own thing. It's open to everyone, whether you make zines regularly or just want to find out what they're all about.
Left Bank Leeds itself is worth a mention if you haven't been. It's an arts and events venue housed in the former St Margaret of Antioch church building on Cardigan Road in Hyde Park. The building has been renovated, with a new roof and repaired windows, and now hosts music and arts events, weddings, dances and circus skills training, as well as hire for public and private functions. It's a proper community space, and this zine club is one of the regular things that keeps it humming.

The session runs from 6pm to 9pm, and it's free, though it's pay-what-you-feel, so you can chip in what you can. You'll need a free ticket to get in, which you can grab from the venue's website. If you're in Hyde Park or nearby, it's an easy mid-week evening to spend making something from scratch.
