Free creative workshop with musicians, puppeteers and poets to make a music parade, open to anyone who plays an instrument, sings or wants to learn puppetry.
La Compagnie du Tire Laine are running a free creative workshop at Chapel FM Arts Centre in Seacroft on Thursday 22 October, from 16:00 to 17:00. The session is all about building a music parade "out in the wild", and it's open to anyone who plays an instrument, sings, or just wants to learn how to bring a giant puppet to life. The idea is to get musicians, puppeteers, poets and community event-makers together in one room to shape the parade from the ground up, so you're not just showing up to a finished plan — you're helping to make it.
There's a bit of an international angle to this one, too. Special musical guests are coming over from Leeds' twin city of Lille, in France, to join in. And if you do take part, you don't just walk away with a rehearsal under your belt: anyone who joins the workshop can then take part in an actual parade the following day. So the hour you spend in the arts centre on Thursday leads straight into something happening on the streets on Friday.

The workshop is held at Chapel FM Arts Centre, the old Seacroft Chapel on York Road (LS14 6JB), which is a broadcasting and live arts venue in the heart of Seacroft and home to East Leeds FM. It's a fully accessible space, with an accessible toilet, hearing aid loop and wheelchair access, so it's easy to get into regardless of how you move. The session runs from 16:00 to 17:00 on Thursday 22 October, and it's free to attend.
