Small silversmithing workshop led by Ghazal of Soremi Jewellery to make a contemporary wide band ring in sterling silver using traditional techniques.
Soremi Jewellery is running a wide band silver ring workshop at their studio in Horsforth, Leeds, on Friday 23 October. It's led by Ghazal, the founder of Soremi, who's a gold and silversmith with more than 20 years at the bench. She runs the classes from her light-filled studio, the same space where she makes and sells her own work.
You'll be working at the bench using traditional silversmithing techniques to make a contemporary wide band ring in sterling silver. You do the whole thing yourself: measuring, shaping, soldering, texturing and finishing the piece, with Ghazal guiding you through each stage. The sessions are kept small, usually four to six people, so everyone gets individual attention. If you've got a group, private bookings are available too.
No previous experience is needed, and all the tools and materials are provided, along with tea and coffee. The studio is staffed by Justin, who keeps the coffee, biscuits and sandwiches coming throughout the day. It's the kind of thing that works as a one-off for yourself or a proper day out with friends, and some people have even come along to make their own wedding rings.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Leeds and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
