Live show by a new trio of session musicians playing traditional music from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, part of the Leeds City of Languages Festival.
Toby Shaer, Archie Moss and Jack Warnock play the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall at the University of Leeds School of Music on Friday 13 November. It's a new trio of session musicians, and the set is built around traditional music from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
The three have known each other since 2019, when they first met, and they describe themselves as dynamic performers and sensitive reinterpreters of the tradition. That's a good way to put it, because they're all seasoned players who've spent years working with other people before coming together as a group. Archie Moss is a BBC award-winning musician and composer, one of the UK's most in-demand button accordion players, and he's performed alongside Seth Lakeman, Sam Sweeney and Eliza Carthy. Toby Shaer is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer from the southeast of England who plays fiddle, flute, whistles and cittern; he's toured Europe, Australia and China with artists like Cara Dillon, McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle, as well as Sam Kelly & the Lost Boys. Jack Warnock hails from Co. Derry in Ireland, an award-winning guitarist and singer and an avid Gaeilgeoir who performs in both Irish and English.
