Indie rock veterans The Wedding Present take to the stage to commemorate the 35th anniversary of their album 'Seamonsters', with Desperate Journalist and Belle and Chain on support.
The Wedding Present are playing the O2 Academy Leeds on Saturday 24 October, as part of a tour commemorating the 35th anniversary of Seamonsters. It's a short run of dates, with Leeds being the first of three: London follows on 30 October and Leicester on 31 October.
Seamonsters was the band's second album, and it's the one that changed things for them. It moved them away from the fast, jangling guitar pop of their debut and towards something slower, heavier and more atmospheric. It's often cited as one of the most influential records of its era, and that's the one they're celebrating here. If you've followed them for a while, you'll know it's the record that redefined their sound and set the course for everything that came after.
They aren't taking the stage alone. Desperate Journalist and Belle and Chain are both on support, so there's plenty to hear before the main set gets going. Between the two of them, the night starts well before The Wedding Present even plug in.
