The Soup Dragons play Hyde Park Book Club on Headingley Lane in Leeds.
The Soup Dragons play Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 14 November, starting at 1:30pm. It's a matinee, so you'll be out by the late afternoon rather than the middle of the night.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, you'll likely know the songs. They formed in Bellshill in 1985 and signed to the Bristol label The Subway Organization in 1986, where they released 'Whole Wide World', which hit number two on the UK Independent Chart. They later signed to Raw TV and put out their debut album, This Is Our Art, in 1988. Their biggest UK hit came in 1990, a cover of the Rolling Stones' 'I'm Free', while 'Divine Thing' became their biggest success in the US.
The band split in 1995, and every member went their own way. Sean formed The High Fidelity and became DJ HiFi Sean; Paul Quinn joined Teenage Fanclub; Sushil K. Dade formed Future Pilot A.K.A and has since worked as a producer for BBC Radio 3; Jim McCulloch joined Superstar; and Ross Sinclair has built a following as an artist, writer and musician, and is a professor at the Glasgow School of Art.
