Live show by The Rifles, the London rock and roll four-piece, at The Wardrobe in Leeds.
The Rifles play The Wardrobe on Thursday 5 November, with the show starting at 7:00pm. It's a change of plan for the night: the gig was originally set for Leeds Beckett University SU, but it's moved over to The Wardrobe instead.
If you're not familiar with them, The Rifles are a London four-piece who first made their mark in 2006 with their debut album No Love Lost. They play heavy rock 'n' roll that draws from The Clash, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones, and their influences reach as far as The Smiths and The Streets. It's a broad spread, but it comes together in a sound they describe as heavily sixties mod yet thoroughly modern — built on sharp vocals, quick-witted songs, rolling guitars and a hint of ska from the rhythm section. That mod edge is the clearest thread, and it's what carries the set.
