The Northern Soultrain, Lancashire's number one Northern Soul band, bring their live soul anthems to The Old Woollen.
The Northern Soultrain bring their live soul anthems to The Old Woollen on Saturday 17 October, from 19:00 to 22:00. They're a nine-piece band drawn from across East Lancashire, now in their sixteenth year, and they're billed as Lancashire's number one soul act.
Fronting the group is lead singer David John Jaggs, and the sound is built around one of the tightest, driving rhythm sections on the soul scene, with the blistering sound of The Union Pacific Horns at its core. Their authentic arrangements bring to life soul anthems from Wigan Casino, Twisted Wheel and Blackpool Mecca, with songs by Dobie Gray, Frank Wilson, Al Wilson, Julien Covay, Billy Butler and a pinch of Motown. They've performed extensively across the North West, the heartland of Northern Soul, as well as 'keeping the faith' further afield, and have been in demand at club soul nights, theatres, festivals and Northern Soul 'all nighters'.

They call their mix of Sixties and Northern Soul numbers 'cabaret soul', though they describe the result as an authentic soul party rather than a cabaret show. It's that party they're bringing to Farsley, with the full nine-piece line-up on stage. Tickets are £19.00, which includes the booking fee, for the night at The Old Woollen, Sunny Bank Mills, 83-85 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds LS28 5UJ, running from 19:00 to 22:00.
