Live gig by Australian soul band The Meltdown at Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen in Leeds' Northern Quarter.
The Meltdown are playing Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen on Saturday 14 November, starting at 7:00 PM. They're an Australian soul band who built their sound on the live stage, and that's where they're most at home.
They signed to Hopestreet Recordings in 2015, when they put out the 45 Better Days. Their self-titled debut album followed in 2017, and since then they've played sold-out shows and festival appearances. If you've never heard them, that's a good place to start: the 45 and the debut album give you the run of their early years.
The venue is Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen on Cross Belgrave Street in the Northern Quarter. It's an independent room that opened in 1934 as Leeds Children's Palace, a recreation hall and nursery school, before Simon Stevens and Ash Kollakowski restored it and reopened it as a music venue in October 2013. It spreads across three floors with two bars, two kitchens and a roof terrace, holds around 300 people and is best known for intimate, standing-room live music alongside DJs, comedy, film and food markets. It's launched emerging talent like Stormzy, Jorja Smith, Jungle and Loyle Carner, and it hosts the Rifffest showcase.
