Dundalk's The Mary Wallopers live at O2 Academy Leeds, presenting their new album Paddywhackery, with support from Cliffords.
The Mary Wallopers play O2 Academy Leeds on Tuesday 27 October, with the Cliffords opening for them. They're touring their third album, Paddywhackery, which was produced by James Skelly of The Coral and recorded over two weeks in Liverpool with engineer Chris Taylor. It follows 2023's Irish Rock'n'Roll, the record on which the Dundalk band wrote their own songs for the first time — critics said it found them leaping forwards with a tightness and power unparalleled in music right now.
The title Paddywhackery was chosen by brothers Andrew and Charles Hendy as a defiant response to being called 'paddywhackery' for being too Irish. The show is part of the band's biggest headline tour to date, and the new single 'Crowns of England' offers an observer's view of England in 2026, inspired by Irish people moving to London and feeling like outsiders; its video, directed by James Slater, stars Danielle Galligan.
