Free drop-in community and youth workshop to discover peatlands through mosses, building mini bogs and making pom-pom moss.
The Magic of Moss is a drop-in workshop at Leeds City Museum on Tuesday 27 October, from 10:30 to 12:30. It's a community and youth session run as part of Leeds Museums and Galleries' outreach programme, and it's one of those things you can just turn up to without booking ahead.
The whole morning is about peatlands and the mosses that make them. You'll get to build your own mini bog or make pom-pom moss, so you'll leave with something you've actually made rather than just having listened to a talk. It's a hands-on way of looking at how these landscapes work, and since it's a drop-in, you can come and go as you like within the two hours.
There's a bit of a wider story to it, too. The session is part of the museum's celebration of Hip Hop History Month, which they've curated with partners at the Leeds Hip Hop Historian Society. It's also listed among the city's family favourites, community and drop-in workshops, so it's aimed at all ages — something to bring the kids along to on a weekday morning if you're around.

It's free, though they run it on a 'Give What You Can' basis, so you're welcome to chip in if you can. The workshop runs from 10:30 to 12:30 at Leeds City Museum on Tuesday 27 October.
