Vocalist William Hicks recreates the music of Barry White with a live band and the Motown Supreme Dreamgirls at the City Varieties.
The Legend of Barry White: Let The Music Play comes to City Varieties Music Hall on Thursday 21 January 2027, at 7:30pm. It's a revue dedicated to the music of Barry White, and it's touring the UK from the USA.
At the centre is Atlanta's William Hicks, known as 'the big man with the big voice', whose silky-smooth bass-baritone recreates the sound of the three-time Grammy Award winner. He's backed by the live band Soul Unlimited, and the Motown Supreme Dreamgirls provide support. The set draws on White's biggest hits, including 'You're the First, the Last, My Everything', 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe', 'Just the Way You Are' and 'Let the Music Play'.
The show works as a tribute to a huge legacy: 100 million records sold, 20 gold and 10 platinum singles. Reviewer Eddie Holland described Hicks' vocal delivery as 'phenomenal' and the show as 'simply stunning'. It's open to all ages, though parental guidance is recommended.
