The Klittens present their debut album 'Have A Heart' with Wharf Chambers as guests at Brudenell Social Club.
The Klittens play the Brudenell Social Club on Friday 30 October, with Wharf Chambers opening. It's a Leeds date on the tour for their debut album, Have A Heart, which they self-released this September.
They're a five-piece from the Netherlands: YaĆ«l Dekker on vocals, Winnie Conradi and Katja Kahana on guitar, Marrit Meinema on bass and Laurie Zantinge on drums. They describe their sound as a blend of pop, fuzz, indie rock and post-punk, all held together by a punk ethos and a DIY approach to songwriting, releasing and touring. It's a fair description of the ground they cover ā the fuzz and post-punk lean into the louder, more jagged side of things, while the pop keeps it melodic.
Have A Heart follows two EPs: Citrus in 2022 and Butter in 2024. The album is their first full-length, and they've put it out on their own terms, self-released and out since September. They've spent the last few years touring across Europe and the UK, opening for acts like Otoboke Beaver and BODEGA, and they run their own annual festival, Klitfest, in both the Netherlands and the UK. In their home country, they sit alongside Personal Trainer, Real Farmer, Lewsberg and Pip Blom in the current Dutch indie wave.
