Navigation challenge in which participants hand over all devices and watches, are driven blindfolded to a secret location and must find their way back on foot with no maps or GPS.
The Drop comes to Up & Running on Saturday 2 January 2027, with a 10:00am start. It's a navigation challenge run by Organic Adventure Ltd, and it's not a race with a route. The whole thing is built on uncertainty: at registration, you hand over your phone and watch, then you're driven blindfolded to a secret location outside the city. From there, you have to find your way back on foot with no maps, no GPS, and no navigation aids. All you carry is a sealed emergency bag.
There are three distances to choose from. The 15-mile version is the original and the toughest, where the challenge comes from the longer distance and the sustained fatigue. The 10-mile version keeps the same rules and pressure in a shorter, sharper format. The 6-mile version is there for first-timers or people unfamiliar with the local geography, because local knowledge removes the very uncertainty that's the point of the event.
Since there's no marked course, the actual distance you cover is often more than the stated distance. The terrain varies across the run, taking in roads, trails, paths, canals and open countryside around West Yorkshire. You'll be navigating through a mix of urban and rural landscapes, and the route you take is entirely up to you.
