West End musical about Hollywood in the 1920s, with the original MGM score and choreography, presented by Trafalgar Productions.
Singin' in the Rain is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 30 March to Saturday 3 April 2027. It's a West End production brought to the city by Trafalgar Productions, and it's a proper run rather than a one-off: evening performances every night, with matinees on Wednesday 31 March and Saturday 3 April.
The story is set in Hollywood during the roaring 1920s. It follows the golden couple Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, whose lives are turned upside down when 'talkies' replace silent movies and an aspiring actress is drafted in to save the day. It works its way through the original MGM score, including 'Good Morning', 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'Moses Supposes' and the title track, carried by high-energy choreography and set designs that pour more than 14,000 litres of water onto the stage.
The cast leading the show is Grant Almirall as Don Lockwood, Natalie Anderson as Lina Lamont, Nicole-Lily Baisden as Kathy Selden, Matthew Maddison as Cosmo Brown and Wendi Peters as Dora Bailey. It's been described as a feel-good show, with the London Evening Standard calling it 'infectious brolly-twirling glee', the Mail on Sunday calling it 'one of the most marvellous movie musicals of all time' and the Daily Telegraph calling it 'a night of sheer delight'.
