Jazz evening with Trish Heenan on voice, Mike Hall on sax, Nigel Chapman on piano, Steve Crocker on bass and Caroline Boaden on drums, part of Jazz Leeds.
Trish Heenan leads a jazz quintet at Seven Arts on Wednesday 4 November, part of the Jazz Leeds programme. She's on vocals, joined by Mike Hall on sax, Nigel Chapman on piano, Steve Crocker on bass and Caroline Boaden on drums.
Heenan's career has taken her across the Atlantic and back. She started in London, playing with various bands at some of the capital's top venues, before moving to the US — first to New York, then to California, and finally settling in Los Angeles. While there, she recorded with Howlett Smith, producer for the legendary Nancy Wilson. She eventually returned to the UK to record the album A lot of world to see at The Premises Studios in London.
Mike Hall is a Manchester-based jazz saxophonist and educator who runs his own jazz quartet and leads the octet Boplicity. For twenty years he led Jazz Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, and these days he splits his time between performing, composing and running jazz workshops.
