A bold and funny stage adaptation of the storybook by Bethan Woollvin, brought to the stage by the family theatre company Wrongsemble.
Wrongsemble are bringing Rapunzel to Leeds Playhouse on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, a two-day run that forms part of the city's October Half Term 2026 programme. It's a stage adaptation of the storybook by Bethan Woollvin, published by Two Hoots, and it's a bold, funny take on the tale we all know.
Wrongsemble are an award-winning family theatre company, and you might recognise them from Three Little Vikings or The Not So Big Bad Wolf. They describe this as a brand new theatrical adventure brimming with music, magic and madcap schemes, and it does one thing quite differently from the original: it does without a prince. Golden-haired Rapunzel is trapped in her lofty tower by a wicked witch who cuts off her hair and sells it for profit, and the story follows her as she takes charge of her own destiny and finds a way to escape.

It's a short run — just the two days — so it's one of those things that only comes around for a weekend. If you're looking for something to do with the kids over the half term, it fits right into that slot. You'll find it at Leeds Playhouse, Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UP, on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.
