Rachel Parris: The Rachel Parris Songbook

Rachel Parris brings The Rachel Parris Songbook to City Varieties Music Hall on Thursday 5 November, 8:00pm. It's a night that puts her songwriting front and centre, with some of her favourite songs from the last 15 years of her comedy career alongside brand-new stand-up, and she invites the audience to sing along.

If you've come across her work without knowing the full CV, Parris is a BAFTA-nominated comedian best known for The Mash Report, and a regular face on British panel shows — Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, QI, Would I Lie to You? and Live at The Apollo. She's also a mainstay on Radio 4's Just a Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, and a founder and cast member of the award-winning improv show Austentatious. This show pulls from that long run of work, mixing the songs she's written over the years with new stand-up material.

The reception has been strong: The Scotsman called it 'classy, clever comedy — uproarious', and The Guardian described it as 'tears of laughter... endearingly frank and funny'. It's a 16+ show, with parental guidance recommended.

Tickets are £24 to £19, plus a £2.50 booking fee. Boxes are available at £30pp by phone on 0113 243 0808. The show runs for about 1 hour 50 minutes including an interval, so you'll be out well before midnight on a Thursday night.
