London indie folk songwriter Ormella plays Hyde Park Book Club, testing new songs live on her debut UK tour.
Ormella plays Hyde Park Book Club on Thursday 12 November, one of the dates on her debut UK tour. She's a London songwriter whose ethereal indie folk runs darker than it first lets on: close, narrative songs carried by a deeply emotive voice.
The set follows her record Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea, a seven-track study of heartbreak, distance and the slow resurfacing that follows, released on Sweat Entertainment. BBC Introducing called it "ethereal folk with real weight" and She Makes Music described it as "captivating and devastating in equal measure". It's the record that's taking her on the road this time around, and it's where the night starts.
But there's more to the set than just the record. She's also testing out new songs live in anticipation of a second EP, due that autumn. So you'll hear the songs from Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea alongside a few things that haven't been recorded yet, and the two together give a sense of where she's coming from and where she's heading next.
