UK tour stop of the Olivier Award-winning musical about the secret 1943 mission that helped win World War II.
Operation Mincemeat is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre from 3 to 7 August 2027, as part of the UK leg of its world tour. It's the Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical and Broadway's newest hit, and it's been called the best-reviewed show in West End history, with a Tony Award and more than 161 five-star reviews.
Set in 1943, it tells the fast-paced, hilarious true story of the secret mission that helped win World War II, pitting a stolen corpse, a fake love letter and Ian Fleming against Hitler. It's a bit of a strange premise on paper — a dead body used as a decoy to trick the Nazis — but that's where the comedy comes from. Critics have described it as part Mel Brooks, part SIX and part Hamilton, with a side order of One Man, Two Guvnors, so it's a musical that doesn't really sit in one box. Taffy Brodesser-Akner of the New York Times called it the most rewarding theatrical experience she's ever had, and Hugh Montgomery of Metro described it as pure theatrical serotonin.
