Northside play Brudenell Social Club on their Chicken Rhythms 35th anniversary tour, with Scruff of the Neck.
Northside are playing Brudenell Social Club on Friday 13 November, as part of their Chicken Rhythms 35 Year Anniversary Tour. It's a Leeds date on a run of UK shows that takes them to Nottingham, London, Sheffield, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Manchester.
To get why the tour is called that, you have to go back to the start. Northside formed in Manchester in 1989 and were signed to Factory Records by the late Tony Wilson after he saw them play a sold-out show at The Boardwalk later that year. Their debut single, 'Shall We Take A Trip?/Moody Places', came out in June 1990, followed by the 12" 'Take 5 / Shall We Take A Trip?' and the album Chicken Rhythms on London Records. This tour marks 35 years since those rhythms first went out, so the set is built around that early material.

If you've never heard them, the name Chicken Rhythms is the one to hold onto — it's the album that gave the tour its title and the record they're celebrating. The anniversary dates them back to those first sessions in the early nineties, and this show is one of the stops on a tour that takes the music across the UK. The Leeds date falls on Friday 13 November at Brudenell, with the band playing the songs from that era.
