Live music gig by Mr Sleepybum's Dream Machine at Carriageworks Theatre, the city-centre cultural hub in Leeds.
Mr Sleepybum's Dream Machine play Carriageworks Theatre on Sunday 18 October. It's a live music gig in the city centre, and if you're not familiar with the venue, it's at The Electric Press, 3 Millennium Square, LS2 3AD.
Carriageworks is a Grade II Listed building that's been around since 1848, when it stood as the West Riding Carriage Manufactory. It was reimagined and opened in 2005 as a city-centre cultural hub, and it's home to the Leeds Community Arts Network (Leeds CAN) — a group of fourteen community-led drama, musical, opera and youth theatre societies — and the Carriageworks Young Theatre Makers (CYTM), a resident youth theatre of 11-19 year olds that puts on three original shows every year. Under Artistic Director Ruth Cooper, it hosts many of Leeds' best arts events, including the Leeds Young Film Festival, INDIs Film Festival, Leeds Lit Festival, Photo North Festival and its annual pantomime.

It's a venue that's easy to get into: it's dementia-friendly, hearing-aid loop equipped and wheelchair accessible, so there's no need to worry about the logistics of getting in and around. The Main Auditorium seats 349 and the intimate Studio seats 77, so whether it's a full house or a smaller room, you're not far from the stage. With the gig on a Sunday, it's a good one for a day out in the city without the Saturday night rush.
