A mindful stitching workshop where attendees create a fabric picture using simple stitches, with no prior sewing experience needed. Part of the Leeds Mindfulness Festival.
Mindful Stitching is at Abbey House Museum on Tuesday 20 October, from 14:00 to 16:00. It's run by Leeds Museums and Galleries as part of the Leeds Mindfulness Festival, which is now in its eleventh year. The festival returns to Abbey House Museum and Kirkstall Abbey to mark World Mental Health Day, with the full programme running from 9 to 21 October.
Across those two weeks, the festival puts on a range of mindful activities for adults. It covers a fair bit of ground: poetry and meditative walks sit alongside secular practices and explorations of spiritual traditions, so there's something for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. This stitching workshop is one of those sessions.
During the workshop, you'll make a fabric picture using simple stitches. You don't need any prior sewing experience to take part, and all the materials, tuition, and light refreshments are provided on the day. It's run as a 'Give What You Can' event, and the session is held in the De Lacy room at Abbey House Museum, Abbey Walk, Abbey Road, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3EH.
