Live gig by Mik Artistik's Ego Trip, the Glastonbury regular, at the Brudenell Social Club in Burley.
Mik Artistik's Ego Trip play the Brudenell Social Club on Sunday 20 December, with doors opening at 19:00. It's a standing gig, and tickets are £18 in advance.
If you've never come across them, the name is a fair clue to the setup. Mik Artistik is a poet, performer, artist and comedian who fronts Ego Trip alongside Jonny Flockton on guitar and a rotating selection of bass players. They describe their own sound as a brand of joyous madness, and the audiences who've seen them put it in a few different ways: delightful, frightening, strange and hysterical. It's the kind of thing that's easier to experience than to pin down.
They've picked up some high-profile backing over the years. Iggy Pop called their song 'Sweet Leaf of the North' the song of the decade on NPR and plays them on his 6Music show, Iggy Confidential. Gideon Coe on 6Music called them the best live act he'd seen all summer, and Martin Parr names them his favourite band on the planet. Since 2007 they've played every Glastonbury and were featured on BBC coverage in 2019. Their single 'Plastic Fox' was hailed as a stone cold classic by Iggy Pop and appeared on Channel 4's Random Acts.
