Matthew and the Atlas mark the tenth anniversary of Temple with Temple Unplugged, supported by Emma Gatrill, Alex Roberts and AK Patterson.
Matthew and the Atlas play Brudenell Social Club on Sunday 8 November, as part of the Temple 10th Anniversary Tour. They're performing as a three-piece, and the set is built around Temple Unplugged, which they'll play from start to finish, with favourites from across the MATA catalogue added on. Emma Gatrill, Alex Roberts and AK Patterson open the night.
Matthew and the Atlas is the project of Hampshire songwriter Matt Hegarty, one of the first artists signed to Communion Records. Over fifteen years and seven albums he's moved from acoustic folk to synth-laden electronica and guitar-led alt-rock, touring alongside Mumford & Sons, Bear's Den and The Civil Wars. Q Magazine once called him the 'British Bon Iver'.
Temple was recorded in Nashville in 2015 with producer duo Foreign Fields and released in April 2016, and it gave us 'Elijah', still a fan favourite. Later that year Hegarty reworked the songs with the band and producer Ian Grimble, and Temple Unplugged arrived in December 2016 — the record fans mention most at shows. This autumn he's back as a three-piece to mark the tenth anniversary of both versions, playing Temple Unplugged in full alongside songs from the rest of the MATA catalogue.
