Spooky Halloween craft workshop for adults to make a 'Haunted Halloween' garland, with all materials provided, at Abbey House Museum.
Abbey House Museum is running a Make A Halloween Garland workshop on Thursday 22 October, from 14:30 to 16:30. It's a spooky twist on the museum's regular craft sessions, and this one is for adults: you'll be making a 'Haunted Halloween' garland to decorate and delight, with all the equipment and materials provided. There's no sewing or crafting experience needed, so it's as much for people who've never picked up a needle as for those who do.
It helps to know where you'll be. Abbey House Museum is a family-friendly, interactive place that lets you step back into Victorian life. On the ground floor, Stephen Harding Gate recreates a 19th-century high street, and the back streets open onto the home of the window washer woman and the Sunday School. The first floor holds the Childhood and Community Galleries, alongside a changing programme of exhibitions. Across the road, in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey — one of the most complete Cistercian ruins in the country — sits the Abbey Cafe.
The museum runs a full programme of adult study days, curator talks, workshops and community events, as well as themed activities, trails and creative sessions for families during the school holidays. This garland session is one of those themed additions, a seasonal spin on the craft workshops they hold throughout the year. You'll walk in and leave with your own finished piece, and since they provide everything, you don't need to bring a thing.
