A toddler-friendly drop-in shopping session for under-5s where children can play shop among the authentic toys of the collection in the Victorian Streets.
Little Shoppers is back at Abbey House Museum on Friday 23 October, with a second date following on Friday 27 November. It's a toddler-friendly drop-in session for under-5s, one of the family activities run by Leeds Museums and Galleries.
The whole thing is set in the museum's Victorian Streets, where the little ones can play shop among the authentic toys of the collection. It's a drop-in, so you don't need to be there for a set start time — you just turn up when it suits you and let them get stuck in. If you've got a toddler who loves pretending to run a shop, this is exactly that, just with real Victorian toys to play with rather than whatever's lying around the living room.
It's worth remembering where you're going, too. Abbey House Museum is an interactive venue that walks you through reconstructed Victorian streets and childhood galleries, all set against the city's social history. The building itself still bears the alterations left by Colonel T. Walter Harding, who lived at and owned Abbey House from 1890 to 1912. It's one of eight Leeds Museums and Galleries venues, alongside the likes of Kirkstall Abbey, Lotherton, Temple Newsam and Leeds Industrial Museum.
