Craft workshop to learn how to cut lino and print with coloured inks on cards, tags and paper at Butler's Cafe in Kirkstall Forge.
Butler's Cafe is hosting a lino printing workshop at Kirkstall Forge on Monday 19 October, from 18:00 to 20:00. It's a craft session where you'll learn the basics of cutting lino and printing from it, so if you've never touched a linocut tool before, this is a good place to start.
The session covers the whole process: you'll carve your own design into the lino and then print it using a variety of coloured inks. There are different things to print onto, too — cards, tags and paper — so you can make a few different versions of whatever you carve. It's a hands-on evening, and you'll leave with your own prints.
Butler's Cafe is on the ground floor of Number One, Great Exhibition Way, Kirkstall Forge, Leeds LS5 3BF. It's a cafe and bar open to everyone, run by Shelley and her team, and it serves home-made hot food, fresh salads and drinks daily to people working at Number One, train station users, visitors and future residents. The workshop takes place there, and if you're driving, a parking space can be arranged on request.
