University of Leeds zone of Light Night, the city-wide festival of creativity, with free art, science and nature events across the campus.
Light Night returns to the University of Leeds on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, with the university taking over the campus as its own dedicated zone. It's part of the wider city-wide festival, which is organised and supported by Leeds City Council with funding from Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants and city sponsors. Now in its second decade, Light Night has become a bit of a Leeds staple, with more than 1.1 million visitors across twenty years and a record 200,000 at a single edition.
This year, the University Zone is putting on 18 events across the campus. Much of it comes from the university's own research, international commissions, student creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a good chunk produced by the Cultural Institute. There are also several student commissions funded by alumni and supporters through the Footsteps Fund. The zone draws on the university's own collections too, like the International Textile Collection, and forms part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, supported by the Economic and Social Research Council (UKRI).

It's a city-wide celebration of creativity that brings together art, science and nature, so the university's contribution sits alongside other zones across Leeds. If you're heading in, the University Zone is based at the University of Leeds campus, Leeds LS2 9JT. Both nights run from 6pm, and entry is free.
