Twelfth edition of City Varieties' annual comedy night, with a bill of comedians and resident compere Matt Reed, raising money for Leeds Hospitals Charity.
Laugh in the Face of Cancer returns to the City Varieties Music Hall on Wednesday 24 March 2027, with the night starting at 7:30pm. This is the twelfth edition of the comedy night, which has become a regular fixture in the venue's calendar, coming back every year. The format is a straightforward one: a bill of some of the hottest comedians on the circuit, all hosted by the Varieties' resident compere, Matt Reed.
There's a bit more to it than just a night of stand-up, though. The evening doubles as a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to Leeds Hospitals Charity, so your ticket does a bit of good as well as get you a laugh. This year's edition is presented by Lowell Financial Limited.
It's a long one, so keep that in mind if you're planning your evening. The running time is around three hours, which includes two intervals, so you'll have plenty of time to stretch your legs and grab a drink between acts. There's also an age guidance of 16+ with parental guidance recommended, because the night deals with adult themes and strong language.

If you need to think about accessibility, the venue has a fair few options on the table: audio description, British sign language, captioning, a relaxed session, an accessible toilet, baby changing, a hearing aid loop, and guide dog access. Tickets are £25, with boxes available for £28 per person by phone.
