Stand-up show by BAFTA-winning comedian Jack Carroll, who rose to prominence on Britain's Got Talent, at the iconic City Varieties Music Hall.
Jack Carroll brings his stand-up hour The Fall Guy to the City Varieties Music Hall on Friday 23 October, with the show starting at 19:30. If you've come across him before, it'll likely be from Britain's Got Talent, where he first made his name. Since then, he's appeared on Live at the Apollo and Coronation Street, where he also sat as a judge.
The hour leans on his northern charm to open up the kind of subjects that can make people feel awkward. He jokes about the broken promises of modern life, the internet rabbit holes we all fall down, and his disability, as he has cerebral palsy. It's the sort of set that doesn't shy away from the things most people steer clear of in conversation.
He's picked up some strong praise along the way. The Guardian called him 'terrific', Frankie Boyle described him as 'a master of both comedy and gnostic wisdom', and Jason Manford called the show 'incredible'. For Carroll, this is the core of his work: he's said that since Britain's Got Talent, stand-up comedy has been the bedrock of everything for him.
