Halloween-themed one-mile fun run for all ages on the flat Leeds to Liverpool Canal route in Kirkstall, with fancy dress and a finishers' medal.
Hubble Bubble & Ghostly returns to the Leeds to Liverpool Canal on Saturday 31 October, the Halloween-themed running day put on by It's Grim Up North. It's one of Yorkshire's best-loved themed races, and the day is built around eight different distances running on the same flat, out-and-back route through Kirkstall. The Ghostly 1 Mile is the shortest of the lot, a one-mile fun run open to all ages, and it's the perfect entry point if you're not usually one for running.
Fancy dress is encouraged, and there are spot prizes for the best costume, though there's no pressure to dress up if you'd rather just turn up in your gear. Every finisher gets a bespoke Halloween medal, plus chocolate and a drink. The whole thing is kept low-key and community-focused, with serious runners sharing the path with families, and the day rounds off with a cake table.
It's a fully licensed Trail Running Association event, run as a cupless, plastic-bottle-free race with feed and drink stations every three miles. For safety, over-ear headphones are banned. It's held on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal at Wyther Lane, Kirkstall, LS5 3BT, and the route is entirely flat, which the organisers describe as beginner-friendly. The Ghostly 1 Mile is just one part of the wider day, which stretches from that single mile up to an ultra-marathon, so you can pick the distance that suits you best.
