60-minute one-to-one sewing workshop led by an experienced Hobbycraft staff member to help set up a sewing machine or learn a new technique.
Hobbycraft is running one-to-one sewing workshops in Leeds, with a session on Thursday 22 October. It's a 60-minute personalised hour led by an experienced Hobbycraft colleague, and it's built around whatever you actually need help with rather than a set syllabus. If you've got a sewing machine sitting in a cupboard that you've never quite managed to get going, this is a good place to start. If you're already sewing but there's a particular technique you can't get your head around, you can spend the whole hour on that instead.
One of the better things about the format is that you can send over the topics and areas you want to focus on before the session. That way, the colleague can prepare a workshop that answers your specific questions and leaves you feeling more confident with your machine, rather than spending half the hour just getting up to speed. It's a bespoke bit of guidance throughout the hour, so you're not following a group along; it's just you and the instructor working through your list.

It's open to anyone aged 14 and over, so it works as much for a teenager picking up a new hobby as it does for someone who's been sewing for years and just hit a wall. The session is £28, and they recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to get the date you want. The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and the experience is available at 98 locations across the UK, so if you're buying it as a gift, the recipient can pick the date and store that suits them best.
